Ghosts installation view

Ghosts is a series of paintings made from modified half‑sheets of construction plywood. Three rectangles are removed at random from each panel using a handsaw, after which the panels are reassembled and fixed to the wall. The final composition is arrived at during the disassembly process itself. The surfaces are painted with the exact wall paint of the site where they’re installed, letting the work blend into its setting, only visible through their seams and voids. The paintings hide in plain sight like ghosts, inviting apophenia: the tendency to see faces in inanimate patterns. The slippage between presence and disguise, image and accident, is central to the series.
